Carl was in my homeroom and we were separated only by Jimmy Hanna in the alpha seating arrangement, so we naturally were always going at it back and forth through Jimmy. He was at least twice my size, and was indeed a lovable Teddy Bear. Good memories. One I remember well is when Johnny Crum, Frank Pfleger, Scotty, Carl and myself and a bunch of others went up to Van Ripers to compete in the Turkey shoot one year. Carl lent me his 20 gauge shotgun with full choke muzzle and I won a frozen turkey using it. Carl had taught how that worked. I can remember those bygone times, with everyone carrying shotguns on Chestnut Ridge Road and sipping fresh cider and mingling. Carl is a "big" reason I can remember that day. May he be resting in peace with his brother Billy, who also passed away from cancer a long time ago. I was blessed to have both of them as friends of mine.

Dad was definitely into his fishing and hunting ( & shooting)..... and likely the ONLY reason I have some flair for it.  I think he is with me anytime I take aim, whether it be shooting out the red star at a carnival or turkey shoot, or throwing a hatchet at a bullseye at the fair!  I wish he ws still here so he could post pictures and share his pride....but i know he is with me in spirit.   ~T
